Ashbury House
Sustainable living that brings joy
Incorporating a number of curved saw-tooth roof elements over new living spaces on a single-storey extension, this contemporary design instils a sense of playfulness and elegance. While being sympathetic to the heritage preservation of the existing dwelling, it creates a dramatic transition in character at the rear, without interfering with the conservative part of the main house. With sustainability in mind, the Ashbury House prioritises natural light through controlled low-and high-level window openings, while cross-ventilation serves as a pivotal element in the architectural composition. The rear extension seamlessly integrates with a private courtyard that can open up to a rear laneway and public playground, making it easy for a young family to embrace nature and actively engage with the local community.
